Is Australia A Good Living Destination For Couples?

I think it has been established that Australia is one of the best countries in the world to live in, due to its outstanding quality of life index. Australia also excels in all the factors that someone looks for when moving to a new country. These factors include health, safety, income, housing, education, etc. Australia has a highly developed economy, and in 2021 it was the 12th-largest national economy by nominal GDP. A large percentage of Australia's economy is compromised of its service sector, so you won't have any issues finding a job if you have experience in the service industry. Some of the questions we get about migrating to Australia are from couples, and they want to know whether Australia is a good option for living, what are the living conditions and how much are the costs. Here, I will go through some of the things that can help make your decision-making process easier.

Australia’s quality of life and culture is next-level

Australia is known for being a friendly country, and its cities house a wide range of people from all over the world, so you'll likely be meeting people from your home country, especially if you go to the big cities. The country's beautiful landscapes and great weather promote an outdoor lifestyle that motivates people to be more outgoing, whether at parties, gatherings or family picnics. Since Australia has a relatively low population, its people enjoy a laidback lifestyle.

They offer top-tier healthcare

Another significant factor that must be considered for you and your loved ones when deciding to move to a new country is healthcare. Australia's healthcare system is known to be one of the best globally as it covers hospital and medical bills for citizens in public hospitals. Also, if you are among those who do not have access to Medicare, then private healthcare is recommended.

Their education quality is among the highest in the world

If you are looking to continue your studies, then Australia can be an excellent choice as the UN education index ranks it as second in the world. Australia has some of the best schools and universities, and it's one of the countries with the most international students. Keep in mind that most of the good universities in Australia are in the big cities, so if you plan to study there you should think about moving to those areas. However, the cost of education can be pretty expensive and should be taken into consideration, especially if you are an international student.

Australia has a beautiful climate

Ocean currents greatly influence Australia's weather to the point that different parts of the country have different climates. However, there are still four seasons across most of the country. The northern part of Australia has a tropical climate. The southwest has a Mediterranean climate, and the southeast can go from an oceanic climate to a humid subtropical climate. The mountainous areas can have an alpine climate. Water restrictions are a common occurrence in many parts of Australia in response to chronic shortages caused by population increases and drought.

They have good visa options for couples

Australia also has good visa options for people who are married or want to get married to Australian permanent residents or citizens. The main types of visas that we are going to discuss are partner visas and the Prospective Marriage visa.

  • Partner visa(Subclasses 309, 100, 820 and 801):

The subclass 309 visa lets the partner or spouse of an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen live in Australia temporarily. You can only apply for this visa outside Australia. This visa gets you one step closer to acquiring a permanent Partner visa. The partner visa 309 processing time can take between 18 to 27 months. The next step will be getting the subclass 100 visa which will allow you to live in Australia permanently. This visa can have a processing time of 14 to 20 weeks. The subclass 820 and 801 visas are similar to 309 and 100 visas, but the only difference is you can only apply for them in Australia. The processing time for the subclass 820 visa is 22-33 months, while for the subclass 801 visa, it's significantly less, ranging from 11-17 months.

  • Prospective Marriage visa:

If you haven't married your partner and want to travel to Australia to do it, then this visa is for you. The Prospective Marriage visa allows you to stay in Australia between 9 to 15 months from the date it's granted. You can also work and study at your own expense while in Australia with this visa. Processing times are pretty long and range from 28 to 35 months.

Conclusion

Based on all the things I talked about, I think we can come to the conclusion that Australia can be a good country for couples. It has most of the qualities we look for when choosing a country to live in, and it’s one of the best countries in the world in terms of life quality. We should also keep in mind that migration is a big decision and its benefits can vary for each person and their situation.
