An Instant Pot is a multi-cooker brand that has become so popular; its name is now synonymous with multi-cookers, kind of life Jacuzzi’s and hot tubs. Instant Pots are pressure cookers, slow cookers, rice cookers, and even yogurt makers! You can steam, saute, keep warm, and make cheesecake if you want to. Or sterilize baby bottles- who knew?!?
Originally a Canadian company, Instant Pot was invented by Robert Wang and three of his former Nortel colleagues in 2009. After 18 months of hard work, the first Instant Pot was ready; a 7-in-1, multi-function kitchen tool that did just about anything!
The first models of the Instant Pot were sold to family and friends. Robert Wang uses three in his kitchen every day, and he is continually testing and innovating his products. He asked for feedback and reviews from anyone who had bought his product, using that information to create the second generation of Instant Pot.
And that second-generation Instant Pot was the one that launched into the household name it is now. “We’ve been more than doubling year-to-year from 2011,” says Robert Wang, inventor of the Instant Pot.
January 2013, the Instant Pot became an Amazon bestseller in the pressure cooker category. One Amazon Prime day in 2016, the Instant Pot sold over 200,000 units in one day!

In 2015, 1140 Instant Pots were recalled due to an electrical malfunction that caused it to shock the user, sometimes quite severely.
In 2018, Instant Pot had to recall yet more products because they were over-heating and melting!
Robert Wang takes these issues to heart and is continuously reinventing his product, adding more safety features and sensors with each generation.
Robert is a firm believer in innovation and is determined to release a new generation of Instant Pot every 12-18 months.
The Instant Pot even had its own Facebook group, with over 750,000 members! Members post more than 7,000 times a day and share things like
