Spend a Fun-Filled Christmas Holiday in Chicago, Illinois
Every year, Chicago, Illinois becomes alive with Christmas spirit. People flock from all over the world to take in the sights and sounds of the Windy City this time of year. It’s a great time to check out the city’s many attractions including Millennium Park, the Navy Pier, and the Hancock Building. Enjoy Christmas Lights in the City
When it comes to Christmas lights, there is no doubt that Chicago goes all-out. Downtown is home to the Magnificent Mile Lights Festival, one of the city’s largest holiday events. The Mile is transformed into a twinkly roadway of artfully illuminated trees, hundreds of holiday figurines, festive decorations, and brightly colored light sculptures. And, many of the shops stay open late so you can do some holiday shopping.
Take In Some Holiday Theatre
Each year, the Chicago Theatre puts on a heartwarming holiday performance of The Christmas Schooner. This original musical follows the story of Chicago's first Christmas Tree Ship and its heroic captain and crew. You can also check out Drury Lane Theatre for a variety of holiday-themed shows. As for comedy, The Second City offers up their signature irreverent holiday-shows like "Holiday Hoo-Ha!"

For those who want to get outdoors and enjoy a bit of winter recreation, the Chicago area has plenty of ski slopes for you to escape to. Chicago has officially chosen its Christmas tree for the 2023 holiday season. The city announced Friday that this year's tree, a 45-foot Colorado Blue Spruce, will come from Darien, Illinois. It was donated to the city by the De La Cruz family.
