Unlocking the Secrets of Herradura
Tequila Herradura is one of Mexico’s oldest and most respected tequila brands, having been founded in 1870 by José Alfonso Beltrán. Today, Herradura continues to use traditional methods and centuries-old formulas to create some of the finest tequilas in the world. Crafted with subtle hints of sweetness, Herradura's range of tequilas, including anejo, reposado, and blanco, provide a unique, ultra-smooth flavor with hints of fruit and spice.
Herradura's Unique Aging Process
Herradura Tequila is one of the few brands to use a traditional aging process known as barrel-stacking, which has been used since the late 1800s. This is a very intensive process that involves stacking the wood barrels in a stack and then stacking them again in alternating directions. This allows for more contact between the wood and the tequila giving it more intense flavor. Furthermore, Herradura also adds toasted oak chips to each barrel to further enhance the taste.
Award-Winning Quality
Herradura has been winning awards for decades and continues to do so today. In 2010 Herradura Selección Suprema won Best Tequila in the World from the San Francisco World Spirits Competition. The tequila has won several awards since then, including a Gold Medal from the 2015 International Review of Spirits, confirming that Herradura's tequila is truly one of the best in the world.
