BEST Airplane Seats in Economy | Where to sit on a...
Choose The Right Seat for Long Flights
No one likes to take a long flight, however, having the right seat can make the difference between an exhausting flight and a comfortable one. While some airlines offer paid seat selection, shoppers usually get stuck with whatever's left over when they book. On most airlines, passengers can choose their seats when checking in online. Take time to assess the available seats before booking so you don't end up with the last ones left.
Proximity to Flight Attendants
In case of an emergency, passengers should choose a seat close to the flight attendants. The majority of airlines position the flight attendant near the over-wing exits for quick access. The over-wing exit rows are preceded by several rows of economy-class seating, with the mid-section usually consisting of two or more rows, depending on the aircraft model.
Exit and Bulkhead Seats
Passengers looking for extra legroom in the economy cabin should consider exit or bulkhead seats. On most aircraft, the portion of the cabin directly behind a bulkhead is configured with additional legroom that is distributed among several rows. While the exit rows offer additional legroom, these seats also become off-limits if the passenger sitting in the exit row is not able to perform the duties of an emergency evacuation crew. Passengers of a certain age and physical ability may be prohibited from selecting exit row seating.
Window versus Aisle Seats
When flying long-haul, passengers should consider the type of seat available. Travelers who frequently get up to use the restroom should choose an aisle seat. However, those wishing to take pictures from the air and enjoy the scenery would have the best view of the landscape from the window seats. The middle seat can offer advantages for passengers traveling with someone else, as there are no issues mixing around aisle or window seat preferences.
Noise Level
The cabin noise level can have a significant effect on the flight. Consider the noise level of the engine. Passengers seated in the rear will experience the highest level of engine noise compared to passengers sitting in the front. In addition, the aisle seat can be more crowded due to passengers openly moving around the plane. Avoid the hustle and bustle by selecting a window seat when booking the ticket.
